BARRIER FILMS: |
Polyester films are ideal for many packaging
applications, including cookie bags, candy and tobacco wraps,
lidding for butter tubs, jelly packets, and many other flexible
food, drug and medical packages where aesthetics and package
strength must go hand-in-hand.
PET offers the best protection for flavor
and freshness as well as superior oxygen and moisture barrier
properties.

|
Polyester
film, when metallized, offers the best combination of oxygen and
moisture barrier properties to keep food products fresh and favorable.
PET is particularly suited to water- and solvent-based ink systems,
pluspolyester film has the thermal properties and machinability
to run well in both horizontal and vertical form and feed equipment.
Certain cartons (such as gable tops and aseptic bricks) are made
from board sandwiched between or coated with thin layers of polymer.
Often, foil is added for extra barrier performance. As many as five
or seven layers of material may be involved in these structures,
with polyester film often serving the role as moisture barrier enhancers,
heat seals, or interlayer adhesion promoters (tie layers).
